I've been a busy honey bee these past few months and it finally paid off! I've been pouring all my time into this portfolio and submitting my application to attend an art schools this year... and I'm happy to say that I've been accepted! By both schools in fact!! I consider that a solid double kill!. A real tenouttaten' in my books. And you know what that means right? Looks like this babe is off to a fancy schmancy art school this September! Hoo Hah!

In lesser news, I'll get back into the groove of things and rustle up some drawings. Perhaps show the world I'll improved. Continue to experiment with brushes. Maybe even get a real nice painterly style going, ya' know? Until then, here's a sneak peek of the contests I'll probably be entering. I'll feature them down below! Enjoy!

I'm getting more and more tired of this website. The feeling that I'm wasting my time here is becoming a sad reality. It began with the desire to simply showcase my artwork, but the discovery of user created contests really captivated my interest. I understand it's all good and fun, but sometimes I feel bewildered at the results. 

Let me back track for a moment, I'm not saying I should always be the winner. There are times I enter a contest simply because I wish to draw the character or to experiment with a new style. When I browse through the list of participants, I am able to acknowledge the superior entries compared to my own. However, there are times when literally all the entires are complete dribble and I think to myself, "Whoa, I certainly have this in the bag", and I'm met with a journal saying my entry was bottom tier... seriously?

Don't get me wrong, I'm honestly aware that many users on this site are still in their diapers, but the level of incompetency really astounds me. Even at that age, I could tell Picture A looked better than Picture B. And yet, these people have the audacity to think they are fit to be judges! It's a riot! These toddlers spew claims that each entry will be evaluated on various criteria. Yet, if their own artwork doesn't even demonstrate a basic understanding of perspective or anatomy, then who are you trying to fool?

All in all, I'm mainly angry at myself. It was an accident to participate and I paid the price with my own time. I wish I had known how to distinguish good contests from the bad ones. Even with the wisdom I have now, I'm still incredibly suspicious. There are still a couple of contests I planned on entering, but now I'm really having second thoughts.
